The Exeter Seahawks started in 1976 as a simple volunteer organization and in 1998 was incorporated as the non-profit Exeter Seahawks Youth Football, Inc. and registered as tax-exempt under IRS Code Section # 501 (c ) (3).
The articles provide for Members, a Board of Directors elected annually by the Members, and an Annual Meeting. Members qualify as such by;
- spending at least 20 hours per year for the prior two years working for the Seahawks,
- by being approved by another Member.
The Board elects each year at its first Board meeting;
- a chairman of the board
- the officers of the Seahawks
The Board and officers then organize and run the business of the Seahawks through Board committees;
- Finance Committee
- Volunteer Committee
- Football Committee
- Head and Assistant Coaches
- Team Parents
- other Volunteers
There are no paid positions on the Seahawks. All board members, coaches, and other volunteers are just that: volunteers!
